Ornithopter Workshop

Are you fascinated by birds? Do you want to find out how nature has evolved and conquered the skies? If 'yes!', then Ornithopter Workshop is your answer!

An Ornithopter is a device that flies by flapping its wings - just like a bird. Nature has been engineered to perfection. Man has always tried to come closer to, and replicate Nature. Whenever we ‘look-up’, there is only one thing that amazes us: birds. We at IIT Madras haven’t just stopped by ‘looking up’; we were inspired by the birds and successfully built a flying Ornithopter.

We now want to share the fun with you guys and hence we have come to you with the Ornithopter Workshop.

The workshop is going to be a hands-on event where the participants will get an insight into bird flight and they get to build and take home their own Ornithopter!

We have successfully built and showcased a flying Ornithopter model for the Golden Jubilee Shaastra 2008. The following is a picture from one of the flights.
