Having fun with Elec should be your primary motive when you come to write the prelims of Short Circuit. An open-to-all round with questions that'll give you the "Yes yes, I can crack it" feeling, this, for sure, will make you enjoy Elec more than ever before!

Just in case, we didn't stress it well enough, you just need basic elec & science fundaes and lots of common sense to do well.

No pre-registration required; just come to the right place at the right time.

Post-prelims

The top eight teams from the prelims will get a chance to have further fun in an exciting one-on-one-match knockout format.
  1. Quarter-finals
    • On the day of the event, the eight teams shall be labelled: A1, A2, A3, A4, B1, B2, B3, B4 by a draw.
    • Four quarter-final matches, Ai vs Bi (i = 1,2,3,4) shall follow; the winner, Wi, of each match shall proceed to the semi-finals.
  2. Semi-finals
    • Two semi-final matches, W1 vs W4 and W2 vs W3, shall decide which two teams go through to the finals
  3. Final
A grand finale shall decide the winner!

The format of the post-prelims rounds shall be explained on-the-spot. Be prepared for some surprises!

Ssshh, there shall be some attractive audience prizes, so in case you do not go past the prelims, make sure you come to witness the quarters, the semis and the final...you might just win bigger than the winners!

short_circuit_FAQ

1. We're not doing Electrical/Electronics engineering. Are we allowed to take part in this event?
A: Yes, why not? If you think your elec basics are good enough to challenge the to-be-elec-engineers, you're welcome to take part!

2. I couldn't find a team-mate. Can I take part alone?
A: Sorry, single member teams are not allowed. In case you don't already have a team-mate, you can try searching for a partner at the venue. But it's always better to come to the venue with atleast one team-mate, if not two.

3. What is the maximum allowed number of members in a team?
A: The maximum allowed number of members in a team is THREE. And just in case you didn't note, the minimum allowed number of members in a team is TWO.

4. What will the format of the prelims? Of the post-prelims?
A: The prelims will be a written round. The variety in question-formats might just catch you off-guard, so beware! The format of the post-prelims will be explained later. As mentioned previously, be ready for some surprises!

5. What/How do we prepare for this event?
A: As already mentioned, we don't expect you to have anything more than basic elec knowledge. To be more specific, you need to know the very basics of Electricity and Magnetism, Analog and Digital circuits, Semi-conductor devices, Signal processing, Electric machinery and some related stuff.

6. We didn't get past the prelims. What do we do?
A: Don't lose heart. Come, sit in the audience of the post-prelim stages. In addition to enjoying Elec, you might win some attractive audience prizes!

Well then, see you at Short Circuit, Shaastra 2009!
