Digital Audio Processing Workshop

Digital Audio Processing Workshop_Introduction

Want to get introduced to the exciting world of Digital Audio Processing?

Ever wondered what goes behind the making of a bass enhancer?
Interested in knowing how digital synthesizers are able to produce/imitate the extraordinary range of sounds they can?
If yes, The Digital Audio Processing Workshop at Shaastra 2009 is just for you
!

Digital Audio Processing Workshop_Description

Overview

Digital Audio Processing involves applying the principles of Digital Signal Processing to process sound signals. The applications of this area include compression, storage, enhancement and synthesis of sound signals.

The Digital Audio Processing Workshop at Shaastra 2009 aims to introduce the participants to this exciting field.Emphasis would be given to explain the fundamentals and demonstrations would be held to illustrate some simple algorithms.

Structure

The workshop will have three sessions. The first lecture will be by an academician working in this area. This will  give an overview of the theory involved in Digital Audio Processing. This would acquaint the participant with the basic principles and terminologies in this field and enable them to understand the basic building blocks with which  different audio processing systems are made. This introductory lecture would be followed by two sessions from people working in the audio processing industry.

Participant Background

Ideally a participant of the workshop should have some background in Digital Signal Processing.Though not essential, some background in digital signal processors would help the participant to understand some of the implementation issues . Students with non Electronics/Computer Science background can also attend the workshop if they are enthusiastic about Digital Audio, though preference would be given to ECE/EE/CS students.
