Sampark Short Circuit
Sampark_Short_Circuit_Intro
God once said, "Let there be light". And there was light.
Then there was electricity. Then came electrical and
electronics engineering. Then there were pains and sufferings,
confusion and chaos. Semiconductors were thought to be part-time
orchestra leaders. Microchips were considered to be very, very small
snack foods. The electrical and electronics engineering students
continued to be confused, to be pained.
They pleaded to God,
"May there be no more torture. May there be peace."
God
then said, "Let there be fun in their lives". And there was
Short Circuit!
Originating from God's desire to provide
respite to the Elec students from the pain and agony of their
academic burden, Short Circuit is all set to make its debut this year
at Sampark 2009, at Surat!
In its inaugural year,
Short Circuit will get you charged up, get you grounded. Be ready to
get 'Short Circuit'ed this Sampark.
And yes, Elec can be fun
too, mind it!
Sampark_Short_Circuit_Event_Format
Short Circuit at Sampark shall consist of a written round. An
open-to-all round with questions that'll give you the "Yes yes,
I can crack it" feeling, this, for sure, will make you enjoy
Elec more than ever before.
Just in case we didn't stress it
well enough, you need nothing more than bits of basic elec &
science fundaes and lots of common sense to do well.
In case
you emerge as champion, you'll get a direct entry into the
quarter-finals of Short Circuit at Shaastra. Wow, talk of incentives!
Sampark_Short_Circuit_Rules
1. Number of members in a team = {x: 2<=x<=3}, strictly!
2.
All team-members needn't be from the same institution.
3. Short
Circuit at Sampark is open to students from all branches (having a
valid college ID card).
4. Specific rules and regulations shall be
explained on-the-spot. In case of any discrepancy, the decision of
the event coordinators shall be final in all respects.
Sampark_Short_Circuit_FAQ
1. We're not doing Electrical/Electronics engineering. Are we
allowed to take part in this event?
A: Yes, why not? If you
think your elec basics are good enough to challenge the
to-be-elec-engineers, you're welcome to take part!
2. I
couldn't find a team-mate. Can I take part alone?
A: Sorry,
single member teams are not allowed. In case you don't already have a
team-mate, you can try searching for a partner at the venue. But it's
always better to come to the venue with atleast one team-mate, if not
two.
3. What/How do we prepare for this event?
A: As
already mentioned, we don't expect you to have anything more than
basic elec knowledge. To be more specific, you need to know the very
basics of Electricity and Magnetism, Analog and Digital circuits,
Signal processing, Semi-conductor devices, Electric machinery and
related stuff. Just to make it clear, Short Circuit would fun-test
your ability to find answers rather than your in-depth knowledge, so
beware!
4. We couldn't win at Sampark. What do we do?
A:
Don't lose heart. Come to Shaastra, take part in the Short Circuit
prelims and if you get through, you could be challenging the Sampark
winner from your place in the quarter-finals!
5. When is
this Sampark going to be held?
A: Please check http://www.shaastra.org/2009/site/sampark .
